AED: Alphabet soup for the heart.
AED or automated external defibrillator is a device that can be used to save a person's life. When a person's heart stops beating regularly, an AED can be used to get a person's heart back on course. 14 of these life saving devices have been distributed throughout the parish in schools and other public places. On July 30th, The Jackson Parish Ambulance service administered hands-on training of the devices. The bank sponsored the training in an ongoing effort to raise awareness of AEDs and the proper way to use them in the event of an emergency.
Seven units were distributed throughout the schools with three mobile units designed for athletic events. The Police Jury received four units which are placed at the golf course, community center, and two at the recreation complex. Two were placed in the courthouse, and one was installed at the bank.
